Behind the Canvas

Hello, I’m Jaimia — wife, mother, and artist based in South East Queensland. I grew up on a farm on the Darling Downs and now live on acreage near Brisbane with my family. I’m a self-taught artist who returned to painting after starting a family, working from our kitchen table with my children nearby.

I am continually inspired by the vast beauty of this country we call home. Surrounded by pasture and eucalypt forest, and just a short drive from the coast, I draw inspiration from coastal, farm, and bushland views. My work reflects the colours, textures, and quiet peace of the Australian landscape.

I work in both acrylic and oil, layering for richness and depth, and I enjoy leaving thick, visible brushstrokes as a reminder of the human touch behind each piece. Much of my work is informed by photographs, and I particularly enjoy transforming other people’s memories into lasting artworks. My hope is to share my love for this incredible country through authentic, heartfelt paintings that inspire connection and, perhaps, rekindle a memory of yours.
